He was on rimydal for a while but after the surgery and getting the fluconazole I was broke, couldn't afford the rimydal anymore, he'd been off it for about a week and fevers kept coming so I got some adult buffered asprin and cut a bunch in half, would give him half a pill every 12 hrs if he seemed sore/feverish. Was kinda paranoid about gi problems cut the aspirin to once a day (a half pill) as soon as it seemed he didn't need it, now hasn't had any asprin for about a week and a half.

Btw, your vet can depending on Gambitweight, write a prescription for generic meloxicam, same as metacam and possibly the fluconazole. 8 bucks a month probably. Unfortunately to my research, Tenessee is not a mandated prescription state for veterinarians, and depends on them being sympathetic. You might be able to strike a deal for the most expensive medication. I kind of considered it unethical to not write prescriptions if asked, got me into a few conflicts with the boss, but stood my ground and he backed down.

Duh me on you being in WI lol. Yeah, WI is not a mandatory prescribing state, bt many veterinarians will write prescriptions, possibly for a reasonable fee, in hard financial circumstances. But 60 cents per pill for fluconazole is not something I could beat. For pain if necessary in future, generic meloxicam is the best option, dose can be found by your vet in Plumb's Veterinary Drug Handbook (A good investment for vet tech training btw). Its four bucks for 30 pills from walmart or 10 bucks for 90 pills). Just a "wee" bit cheaper than rimadyl (Taking heed on WVZ's threat re my accent). Generic tramadol is also an option.

Duh me on you being in WI lol. Yeah, same applies, WI is not a mandatory prescribing state, however, many vets will write prescriptions for a small fee in hard financial circumstances, if you need anything more expensive. If for example for pain (To me a serious ethical issue when people can't afford the brand medications, its unethical/immoral not to write a prescription, but just my opinion.) , I'd shoot for generic meloxicam from walmart (Dose=0.1mg/kg day 1, once. After 24 hrs, 0.3mg/kg every 24hrs. (Plumbs Veterinary Drug Handbook). Metacam is usually more effective than rimadyl, and can be a little easier on the liver. Generic Tramadol is another option (We used 3mgs a kg, but there's wide variation in doses.)

This is our parrot 'Solo' (after Han Solo the reckless flier in star wars), a rose breasted cockatoo or a Galah. He's the sweetest most cheekiest animal I have come across who loves nothing more than aggravating the dogs, dancing and playing silly games (hopefully the attachment works)
