Might as well post it - although mainly just sharing so those that want the information have it to watch -- I'm fairly well disgusted with the whole thing.. and glad I'd rather call myself a were than a therian.. but anyway, post your opinions if you want but don't want to start a big thing with it.. my opinion is a bunch of teenagers wanted their 15 min of fame..

I watched it. I sighed a lot, though I did note that it was t nearly as bad as that thing put out by Animal Planet a while ago. I think they called it Humanimals?

Anyways, stuff like this makes the idea of discussing being were with friends and/or family impossible for me. Luckily, I've never felt any great need to do so, as I think that in my case trying to put a label onto myself for them would be a blinder rather than an aid in helping them to understand me. And that's assuming that I'd want them to really understand me, which I am not sure I do.

But stuff like this... I just don't see how it could possibly help.

I wouldn't be harsh on the kids in it, though - they ARE kids, after all. I don't see any reason to think that at least most of them are sincere - if a little immature, as young people often are.

I just profoundly wish they could have gone the entire show without ever mentioning the word "furry" or showing fursuits. -_-

I've been on Shiro's wulfhowl.net prior to this so I was there when he announced what he was doing. Many disagreed. He had his reasons and while I personally do not 100% agree, I do respect his decision to do so.

As older therians we've seen it all before. People ask to do a documentary about weres/therians/otherkin and they edit all the good informative information which was our original intent in the name of shock value and entertainment. "Look at the freaks! More bread and circuses for the masses!"

I went in watching this with this in the back of my mind, that it would be misinterpreted and over sensationalized. Yes they grouped us with furies. Yes they focused more on kink and sex and the freaky aspects. Yes they narrowed in on people's mental health and such, and yes it was all kids. (My wife's own words: "They're all babies!" Bear in mind we are in our early 40's.) But in all, this could have been much, much worse. I think people with open minds will respect it, but as always "haterz gonna hate". Some people have already commented negatively on the websites and social media those interviewed are on, such as tumblr.

I commend the bravery of these kids to do this. I'm sure they knew what they were getting into. But sometimes we 'greymuzzles' have to let them learn from the experience.

lol bravery...just a dipshit who wanted his 15 minutes of fame pure and simple at the price he gladly paid of making us all look like asses.he was so aginst anyone else doing this they even contacted ashen and she told them off but low and behold there goes shiros dumb ass to basically make what we are even more of a damned joke.i have no love or tolerance for any of this

Honestly I think the interviews with Goldenwolf and Coyote were much better and this was pretty bad.. I mean I knew it was going to be bad -- but yea they did everything they could that would misrepresent what a therian is.. and I think they went after kids, talked a bunch of talk.. shiro says he was very controlling with what they used from him, and I gotta say, that doesn't say much, or it's just the fact that we are very different people.. and even being 'kids'/youngins they are all still over 18 (maybe the one in ny was 17) and should start acting like adults, especially if they want to be 'representatives' for the community any one of them could have put up the obsessive memorabilia - not worn the tails for the cameras so not to blend the therian/furry line. And yea things like this, and the reviews make it IMPOSSIBLE for me to use the word therian and ask for respect in any professional/social way with people who don't already know me. -- which I don't really use therian too much anyway, but I think some part of me really though that one day there would be/will be a documentary that I could watch with my dad and be like 'see I'm not just crazy' but no -- we'll be sticking with the talks.

You know, It was from the release of this documentary that I got the idea to do that "Greymuzzle's Perspective" you saw on Facebook, Ashen.

I'm beginning to think that maybe, just maybe I'm being way to politically correct about this. I tend to play diplomat too much sometimes and this is one of those situations. I say that the kids are brave and they are to do something like this. However I may not know the underlying circumstances and/or ulteriour motives. As Paul Harvey would say, "The rest of the story".

But I do know this. I've been re-evaluating myself and this whole therian/were thing because of this. I only know who I am inside and have been searching and walking this road and being me for a good 12 years now. I think I have a pretty good grasp of who and what I am. And a bunch of kids is not going to change that. (Yeah I sounds like a cranky ol' codger, so what?)

I liked it when we had the same practice American gun culture has, never ever talk to media! Whatever you say WILL be edited and misquoted against you. That said this is not as bad as I have seen.They probably picked kids because A: the graymuzals know better and said no and B: marketability.

We where pigeon holed with furrys, oh boy. I do know from the outside we all "look" the same to mainstreamers (not helped by those who crossover and our art) but I do wish they wouldn't advise the invisible pigeonholing counsel when it comes to classifying us. Yes they should have known better then to bring out the tails and fursuits. It isn't that I see it as demeaning, hell, I want one (The supper realistic expensive kind I'll never be able to afford.) and many of the weres I know personally are crossovers. But it confuses the poor shallow minded normal folk.

Actually, the original "Animal Imitators" documentary from which the Humanimal documentary was made was reasonable. I had no problem with it and most of the Community liked it when it came out - then they released it under Weird and Freaky and used that over-dramatic announcer and that ruined the whole thing.

I've tried viewing this on both my ipad which the video didn't work for, and now it says it wont work from my PC as the content isn't available here, which is a shame because despite the bad press, I'd like to see it.

Just try refreshing the page and wait while it loads a bit. It should work fine after that.

Edit: if it is a Reagen block thing try a plugin like Stealthy that puts you through a proxy.

I think the problem here is letting some company for profit do a documentary on us. If it was an independent documentary, then maybe it would be better. What I want to see is a documentary on us done BY us. Meaning us being the producers and editors. I don't care if it never makes it to TV or netflix. I think I would still enjoy that very much, and have something I can show to friends and family, and to those who might be confused about their true nature.

After a bad documentry before this one, a bunch of people on werelist had discussed making our own.. started getting plans together - ideas forming. But the main crew that had access to film and editing equipment dropped out/disappeared and then it seems to have just been forgotten... If I remember right WVZ had said he wouldn't mind being a 'face' on camera; but until someone else with video/editing/money to spare to travel to interview comes along I'm not sure how far the 'Project Pawprint' will go.

I actually sort of went to school for filming, video editing and production... Though it was more towards 3D animation, you still have to learn to film with real cameras, and edit them and add special effects and green screens and do post production rendering, ect. So I could do it! Now, what will be needed is to get the funds, and time, to go meet people willing to be interviewed.

In all seriousness, I am up for this, but not right now. Give me some time to get settled in my new job and deal with some school issues as well. I think another thread to brainstorm this at some point is a good idea. If I am able to do this, I would want a committee to choose and possibly vote on things that should be in, and should not be in.

Heh. I've already been a face on camera - it just didn't get used - and aren't I glad!?

There are actually some YouTube documentaries up but they tend to be, well, a guy sitting in from of their laptop camcorder - not very presentable - and, of course, it generally comes off as a forum post on screen. You're right, we could use some better quality.

I wouldn't mind being interviewed, problem is, I live in a small backwaters town that talks so I couldn't show my face. That would make things complicated. Not that I'm ashamed but if it gets out the fires of hell would flow out.
